Seven MRT stations under the fourth stage of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL4) have been handed over to rail operator SMRT Trains, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Feb 6), signifying another step closer to the TEL4 opening.
The upcoming TEL4 comprises Tanjong Rhu, Katong Park, Tanjong Katong, Marine Parade, Marine Terrace, Siglap and Bayshore MRT stations.

TEL4 Stations Fundamentally Completed, Slated to Open in First Half
LTA said in a Facebook post that it has completed civil and structural works for the TEL4 stations, and the testing & commissioning of systems and a new batch of trains.
It added that the following steps involve integration tests, which ensures that “TEL4 can run seamlessly with the TEL1 to TEL3 stations”.
“SMRT will also be running further tests to get their operations all ready to serve you.”
In an interview by Lianhe Zaobao on Jan 9, then-Acting Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat said authorities are aiming to open the TEL4 in the first half of 2024.
Full-line Testing Done with Over 30 New Batch of Trains for TEL4
According to crowdsourced data by trainspotters on SGTrains Spotters, over 30 new trains, which had been stowed until TEL4 testing commenced, have been spotted running the full line from Woodlands North to Bayshore on Jan 28.
These batch of trains also included the updated MRT system maps, which show the entire TEL route and other upcoming stations, such as Hume and Punggol Coast MRT stations for the Downtown Line (DTL) and North East Line (NEL), respectively.

Keen-eyed trainspotters also noticed that at Gardens by the Bay MRT station, the current TEL terminus, the trains’ onboard information systems had indicated that it would be ending its service at the upcoming Bayshore MRT station, the TEL4 terminus.
