New artworks soon to be featured at 40 MRT stations across the North-South, East-West lines
As part of the expansion to the Art in Transit programme, LTA said it will be introducing new artworks at 40 existing stations along the North-South Line (NSL) and East-West Line (EWL) from 2026.
Community-led projects will be showcased at 25 stations, with the remaining 15 stations to feature newly-commissioned artworks.
LTA said these would bring ‘diverse artistic experiences across the transport network to commuters while fostering deeper community connections’.
It added that commissioned artworks are based on three themes – Healthcare/Wellness, Cultural/Community, and Civic/Commercial – and would reflect the unique character of communities and neighbourhoods along the NSEWL.
“These artworks are specially designed for each MRT station, transforming everyday transit spaces into cultural hubs with vibrant expressions of Singapore’s history, culture, and community,” said LTA.
LTA said Bugis, Novena, and Outram Park stations are part of the first phase to feature new art installations by 2026, adding that they are designed to provide “uplifting experiences for patients, visitors, and commuters near nearby healthcare facilities”.

A commemorative artwork has been commissioned at Little India station along the North East Line (NEL) to mark LTA’s 30th anniversary. The NEL is the first MRT line to be fully incorporated with the Art in Transit programme.
‘Seeing History Through the Bamboo Forest’ by Yeo Siak Goon celebrates the heritage and transformation of Little India, while showcasing the evolution of the country’s transport over the years.
Artist Yeo Siak Goon is a three-time winner of the Dr Tan Tze Chor Art Award in 1984, 1986, and 2011, as well as the recipient of First Prize in the Figurative Category of UOB Painting of the Year in 1990.
New Digital Experience available; LTA to continue key partnerships to integrate art into transit spaces
LTA has launched a free digital guide, in partnership with Bloomberg Connects, featuring all Art in Transit installations across the NEL, Circle Line (CCL), Downtown Line (DTL), and Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL).
The digital guide would serve as a “convenient digital gateway to the extensive public art collection” across the various MRT stations, said LTA. More information can be found on Bloomberg Connects.
In addition, LTA would continue to work with Singapore Art Museum (SAM), National Arts Council (NAC), Art Outreach, and School of the Arts (SOTA) to integrate art into transit spaces.
More information on the partnerships and their initiatives can be found in the news release on LTA’s website.
