Circle Line to end earlier on Fridays and Saturdays, start later on weekends, from Sep 5 to Dec 28, 2025

Train service across all stations on the Circle Line (CCL) will end earlier on Fridays and Saturdays, and start later on Saturdays and Sundays from Sep 5 to Dec 28, 2025, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and rail operator SMRT said in a joint statement.

The joint statement on Aug 12 said the early closures and late openings (ECLO) on the CCL are needed to carry out systems integration testing following the successful installation of the line’s Integrated Supervisory Control System (ISCS) in July.

The ISCS monitors and manages power supply, communications, and station facilities across the CCL, with the older ISCS having to be replaced to bring it up to date with the systems that will be used for CCL Stage 6 (CCL6).

“This testing ensures reliable service can be delivered after CCL6 is completed.

“During this phase, longer blocks of engineering hours are needed for the integration and compatibility testing to be carried out safely and rigorously,” said the joint statement.

CCL train services at all stations will end earlier at 11:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and will start later at 9:00am on Saturdays and Sundays. However, train service will operate at regular hours on the weekends of Oct 3–5, Nov 28–30, and Dec 5–7.

Commuters are advised to use alternative means of transport, such as regular bus services and alternate MRT lines. In addition, shuttle bus services will be provided during the weekends for the late openings.

In a social media update, LTA on Oct 1 announced that CCL train services on two Saturdays – Oct 11 and Nov 22 – would start earlier at 7:30am, instead of the late openings at 9:00am.

Affected commuters can use shuttle bus services 36 and 37 during the late openings, which will operate from 5:00am to 9:00am on Saturdays and Sundays. These shuttle buses will use the same fare structure as the CCL journeys.

Shuttle 36 will run between Bishan (CC15) and HarbourFront (CC29) stations every 7–10 minutes. Shuttle 37 will run between Promenade (CC4) and Bishan (CC15) stations every 3–5 minutes.

“Commuters may experience up to 30 minutes of additional travel time expected due to the service adjustments,” said LTA and SMRT.

For more information, commuters can approach station staff who will be deployed to assist during the period of CCL train service adjustments.

LTA and SMRT said they “thank commuters for their continued patience and understanding during these train service adjustment periods”.
