Almost 19 years after the station was built in 2005, the Teck Lee (PW2) station on the Punggol LRT is now open for passenger service on Thursday (Aug 15).

The Teck Lee LRT station will improve transport connectivity for commuters travelling to Punggol town, the new Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) Punggol Campus, and the Punggol Digital District (PDD), the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said last month.

Teck Lee station on the Punggol LRT has opened for passenger service almost 19 years after the station was first built in 2005.

Located along Sentul Walk, the Teck Lee station provides commuters with access to the new SIT Punggol Campus and the business park within the PDD.

LTA said last month that there will be covered linkways connecting Teck Lee station, business park and SIT campus for first- and last-mile journeys for commuters.

Separately, in 2022 and 2023, LTA also procured 25 new 2-car LRT trains for the Sengkang-Punggol LRT (SPLRT), doubling the number of 2-car trains in the SPLRT fleet.

The new LRT trains will increase passenger capacity to better serve residents and to meet long-term public transport demand.

Additionally, LTA said the opening of Teck Lee station and SPLRT improvements will complement bus services 84G/W, enhancing connectivity to the northern part of Punggol.

Since Jun 23, 2024, the bi-directional circular service has been operating between Punggol bus interchange, Sentul Crescent, Punggol Way, New Punggol Road and Punggol Road.

LTA will also subsequently announce more details on the Punggol Coast (NE18) station of the North East Line (NEL), which is on track to open by the end of 2024.
