Train service towards Changi Airport MRT station remains available, despite the closure and restriction of Jewel Changi Airport and Terminals 1 & 3 to public access, due to the detection and increase in occurrence of COVID-19 cases.
[Update – 11 Jun 2021] Safe and Progressive Reopening of Changi Airport PTBs and Jewel
Jewel & Passenger Terminal Buildings at Changi Airport, which have been closed to the public since 13 May 2021, will be progressively reopened, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Changi Airport Group (CAG) announced on Friday (Jun 11).
“The PTBs will remain closed to the public to allow the airport community to adapt to the new zoning measures, which require significant operational adjustments,” added CAAS and CAG.
Jewel & Passenger Terminal Buildings Closed to Public
Jewel Changi Airport and Changi Airport Passenger Terminal Buildings (PTB) will be closed to members of the public from Thursday onwards (May 13), the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Changi Airport Group (CAG) said on Wednesday (May 12).
CAAS and CAG mentioned that the closure will last for 14 days until May 27, with access only restricted to essential airport workers and passengers with air tickets.
Train Service towards Changi Airport MRT Station Remains Unaffected
According to the mobile app by rail operator SMRT, we can observe that train service along the Changi Airport Extension on the East-West Line (EWL) is unaffected.[1]
At Expo MRT station, it is observable that trains are operating at intervals of 7 minutes in both directions; back to Tanah Merah MRT station and Changi Airport MRT station.
