The Sengkang LRT‘s west loop will run in a single direction from Apr 19 to Oct 18, as the inner loop will be closed for track works, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

Inner loop via SW1 Cheng Lim from STC Sengkang would be closed to facilitate LRT track modifications
In a statement released, LTA said the single-direction service on the Sengkang LRT’s west loop is needed for track works to connect new reception tracks between the expanded Sengkang-Punggol LRT (SPLRT) depot and the existing LRT line.
LTA said the SPLRT’s fleet is being expanded to meet growing demand by introducing the new 3rd-gen C810D trains, which are two-car long, since July 2025, to progressively replace the older fleet of trains.

A total of seven new 2-car trains are in passenger service by the end of February 2026, said LTA, adding that the remaining 18 new trains will be deployed progressively after SPLRT depot expansion works are completed.
It added that to accommodate the larger fleet of new trains, works have been ongoing to expand the SPLRT depot from the current 3.5ha to 11.1ha, with the expansion expected to be completed in 2027 and featuring additional reception and workshop tracks.
As such, to connect new reception tracks between the expanded SPLRT depot and the existing LRT line, LTA said the inner loop of the Sengkang LRT’s west loop – via SW1 Cheng Lim from STC Sengkang – will not be operational from Apr 19 to Oct 18, 2026.
The closure for the inner loop will allow extended working hours, which are needed to carry out heavy modifications of the existing mainline LRT tracks to connect with the new reception tracks, as well as to install and test signalling systems and equipment.
Outer loop remains operational with 2-car LRT trains; dedicated shuttle bus services will operate during peak hours
LTA said that during the inner loop closure, commuters can continue to use regular bus services, or the outer loop – via SW8 Renjong from STC Sengkang.
To maximise capacity on the outer loop, LTA said it will be fully operated with 2-car LRT trains for the duration of the service adjustment.

The shuttle bus service will ply different routes in the morning and evening to better serve the travel patterns of commuters.
- Sengkang West Shuttle Bus Service A will operate from 6:00am to 10:00am
- Sengkang West Shuttle Bus Service B will operate from 5:30pm to 9:30pm
Sengkang West Shuttle Bus Service A/B will operate at intervals of about 3-5 mins and will follow the same fare structure as LRT journeys.
LTA said commuters who tap into the shuttle bus service on weekday mornings before 7:30am, as well as between 9:00am and 9:45am, will be eligible for rewards under the Travel Smart Journeys (TSJ) programme.
The TSJ programme will provide equivalent cost savings to commuters who tap into SPLRT stations under the free morning off-peak rail travel scheme.
To give commuters time to be familiar, the shuttle bus service has been operating since Apr 13, a week before the LRT service adjustment begins. It will cease when regular service resumes on the inner loop.
“Crowd marshals will be on the ground to provide assistance to commuters,” it added.
