The Land Transport Authority (LTA) and rail operator SMRT said they have completed tunnel strengthening works nine days ahead of schedule, and train services have fully resumed.
The completion of tunnel strengthening works between Mountbatten, Dakota, and Paya Lebar stations comes after the teams involved have gained familiarity with the complex work processes, achieving time savings, especially during the latter phases of work.
LTA said it assessed that works can be completed about a week ahead of schedule, and that peak-period shuttle bus services will cease operations with the resumption of regular CCL services.
The joint statement said that with the completion of tunnel strengthening works, they would be proceeding with the final systems integration testing works to prepare for the CCL stage 6 (CCL6) opening.
There will be three new MRT stations – Keppel, Cantonment, and Prince Edward Road – as part of CCL6, along the southern stretch of the CCL, which will close the loop for the MRT line.
To facilitate systems integration testing works for the CCL6 opening, train services on the CCL will be adjusted during the weekends, with early closures on Saturday nights and late openings on Sunday mornings, from Apr 11 to May 17, 2026.
