No train services between Tanah Merah & Expo stations on East-West Line
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced in a joint statement on Feb 20 that the need for this round of track works comes after the successful operationalisation of the new East Coast Integrated Depot (ECID).
The 4-in-1 ECID – which houses trains for the EWL, Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL), and Downtown Line (DTL), as well as buses – was commissioned in December 2025 and will replace the existing CHD.
“LTA and SMRT will take the final step to disconnect the reception tracks linking the EWL to Changi Depot,” said the joint statement.
There will be no train services on the EWL between Tanah Merah and Expo stations for four days, from Mar 14 to 17, 2026, and EWL train services between Tuas Link and Pasir Ris stations will continue to operate normally.
Shuttle bus service S8 will be available; Shuttle train services between Expo and Changi Airport stations will run at 7-min intervals
Shuttle bus service and shuttle train services will be available during the period of train service adjustments on the EWL.
To maintain connectivity, shuttle bus service S8 will be available plying between Tanah Merah and Expo stations at frequencies of 5-8 mins, and would follow the same fare structure as trains.
Shuttle train services between Expo and Changi Airport stations will run at intervals of 7 mins during peak hours, said LTA.
Commuters are also encouraged to use existing public bus services to connect to alternative MRT lines like the DTL for their journeys.
