In a Lemon8 post published on Mar 20, titled “FREE date idea ?”, Faith (@takingsomefaith) said that she and her boyfriend were cooped up at home and were looking for date ideas apart from watching shows.

Faith said she had remembered coming across a TikTok trend on testing MRT station knowledge and attempted to fill up MRT station names from memory on a blank MRT system map.

She added that the MRT station knowledge quiz “was so fun”, and they “were stuck on it” for over one hour, attempting to complete it.

With over 4,500 plays, the free-to-play quiz — featuring an MRT system map with all station names removed — was created by user yellowflip999 on Sporcle, an online trivia and quiz platform.

It also features the added difficulty of forcing users to answer the questions in a random but forced order and has a time limit of 25 minutes, probably to encourage users to not spend too much time on the quiz.

The creator of the quiz had also answered all 134 stations correctly in a record time of 3 minutes and 37 seconds, hinting that they could possibly be a train enthusiast as well!

An interesting feature of the Sporcle platform is the functionality to see which MRT station players got it correct the most.

The top three are interchange stations: Punggol (82.2%), Dhoby Ghaut (81.8%), and Bishan (81.7%), while the bottom includes newly opened stations: Havelock (55%) and Shenton Way (53.5%).

Test your memory and knowledge by trying out the quiz now at Sporcle, and let us know how you did on our Instagram @sgtrains!

PS. The quiz might become slightly tougher when seven new MRT stations for the fourth stage of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL4) open in June this year!
