Emergency Exercise To Be Conducted at Woodlands MRT Station on Nov 30, 2023

A public transport emergency preparedness exercise will be conducted at Woodlands MRT station on Thursday (Nov 30), the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SMRT said in a joint news release last week.

Commuters are advised to factor in additional travelling time during this exercise, which will take place near the fare gates towards the North-South Line (NSL) and Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL).

Public Transport Emergency Preparedness Exercise at Woodlands MRT Station

NS 9 TE 2 Woodlands MRT station

Exercise Station Guard, an emergency preparedness exercise, will be carried out at Woodlands MRT station during the off-peak hours from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Some commuters may be asked to go through metal detector checks and have their belongings scanned by X-ray machines.

Those with bulky items may require more time for security checks.

If you enter the MRT station and are headed to the NSL North-South Line
You will be advised to proceed to the fare gates near Exit 3.

If you enter the MRT station and are headed to the TEL Thomson-East Coast Line
You will be advised to proceed to the fare gates near Exit 4.

Exercise Station Guard conducted since 2018

Conducted regularly by LTA and public transport operators since 2018, Exercise Station Guard is a public transport emergency preparedness exercise, part of the SGSecure movement.

It aims to strengthen security in public places and to build resilience in the community against security threats, particularly terror attacks.

These exercises complement other public education efforts by LTA, such as the “See Something, Say Something” campaign that encourages commuters to report suspicious items, persons and activities they may come across in the public transport network.

Exercise Station Guard have been conducted at various MRT stations, including one at Chinatown MRT station recently.
