Thomson-East Coast Line Stage 2 – On Track To Open In Q3 2021

The second stage of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL2) is on track to be opened in the third quarter of 2021!

Transport Minister S Iswaran and Senior Minister of State for Transport Chee Hong Tat shared their visit to the TEL2 stations in Facebook posts on Monday (Jun 21).

Minister for Transport S Iswaran announced on Wednesday (Jun 30) that the second stage for the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL2) will be opening on Aug 28.

Mr Iswaran concluded his visit to the TEL2 by thanking the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SMRT for their hard work.

“My heartfelt thanks to the LTA and SMRT teams for their hard work in getting the stations ready, as they continue to run tests as part of the preparation,” he mentioned.

Mr Chee said that the TEL2 will enhance connectivity and that the TEL will allow residents to reach other parts of Singapore more easily.

He added that “there are also many underground crossings and street level covered linkways that will connect the nearby residential areas and surrounding amenities to the MRT stations.”

Mr Chee also gave a “big thank you to LTA and SMRT colleagues for all their hard work, in important areas such as engineering, construction, architecture and design.”
