China Harbour (Singapore) Engineering Company Pte. Ltd. has been awarded the civil contract for the design and construction of JS9 and JS10 stations on the Jurong Region Line (JRL).

LTA added that this contract will also include the construction of a 1.5km viaduct between the stations, over Jurong Central Park and Jalan Boon Lay.

The company has been operating in Singapore for over 35 years, including the construction of Siglap MRT station on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL), said LTA. The agency added that the company has also completed rail projects in Macau and Thailand.

These two JRL stations are expected to be completed by 2029.

The JRL would be Singapore’s seventh MRT line comprising of 24 MRT stations, aiming to improve connectivity in the western part of Singapore by serving areas such as Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Jurong Industrial Estate, Jurong Innovation District, Pandan Reservoir and the future Tengah area.

LTA mentioned that the JRL will benefit over 60,000 households in the vicinity of Choa Chu Kang, Boon Lay and the Jurong area, enabling better connectivity by having an MRT station within a 10-minute walk from their estate.

Commuters can expect the JRL to halve travelling times from Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4 to the Jurong Industrial Area, to just 25 minutes from a 50 minutes travel.
