Although it was not announced that the Siemens C651 trains were due for decommissioning, these trains were supposed to be undergoing their mid-life refurbishment works. However, the refurbishment works were discontinued in 2018.

In June 2020, the decommissioning of the first-generation Kawasaki Heavy Industries C151 (KHI) trains officially commenced, though it was not mentioned that the Siemens C651 were included in the contract for decommissioning.
