Minimum Top-up Amount for Stored Value Cards Reduced to $2.00
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced on Aug 6, 2021, the reduction of the minimum cash top-up amount for stored value cards to two dollars.
This came with the announcement on the discontinuation of sales of standard tickets for trains from 2022 onwards.
2 MRT Stations for Upcoming Thomson-East Coast Line 3 To Open at a Later Date
The Thomson-East Coast Line 3 (TEL3) which comprises 13 stations from Mount Pleasant MRT station to Gardens by the Bay MRT station is scheduled to be opening in 2022.
However, two TEL3 stations will not be opened for passenger service until surrounding developments become ready in the future.
4 Bus Services Along Downtown Line To Be Rerouted From Dec 12, 2021
Four bus services that are running parallel to several sections of the Downtown Line (DTL) will be amended and rerouted from Dec 12, 2021.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a Facebook post on Monday (Nov 22) that with the opening of new train lines like the DTL, bus services have to be amended to “reduce duplication of routes.”
It added that the amendments “ensure prudent use of taxpayer’s monies, while benefiting as many commuters as possible.”
2 Minor Problems To Be Addressed for Johor Bahru-Singapore RTS Link: MRT Corp
The Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link) project is currently facing two minor problems which have to be addressed.
When the two problems are successfully addressed, construction works can then ‘start in a big way,’ said the Mass Rapid Transit Corp (MRT Corp), the owner and developer for the Malaysian section of the project.
Downtown Line To Use New Rail Financing Framework Version 2 From 2022
The Downtown Line (DTL) will transit to version two of the New Rail Financing Framework (NRFF) from Jan 1, 2022, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Thursday (Nov 11).
This comes after a financial sustainability review conducted by both the LTA and transport operator SBS Transit (SBST).
The DTL has been using the first version of the NRFF since 2011, while the majority of other train lines used the updated framework between 2016 and 2018 onwards.
Construction of Aviation Park MRT Station for the Cross Island Line To Start in Q1 2022
The construction works for Aviation Park MRT station will begin in the first quarter of 2022, with passenger service projected to commence in 2030, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) announced in a press release on Monday (Nov 8).
3 MRT Lines To Have New Fare Collection Gates by July 2026
Thales announced on Tuesday (Oct 12) that it had won the contract to modernise and standardise 1,350 fare gates at MRT stations over the next few years.
The North-South Line, East-West Line, Circle Line and the upcoming Jurong Region Line will see upcoming fare gates supplied by the company.
London’s Northern Line Extends to Battersea Power Station
The London Underground network, or commonly known as the Tube, has opened two new stations on Monday (Sep 20).
The two new stations on the Northern Line — Battersea Power Station and Nine Elms, marks the first major network expansion since the 1990s with the Jubilee Line Extension.
