Exercise Station Guard, an emergency preparedness exercise, will be conducted at Serangoon MRT station on Dec 7, 2021.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA), SMRT Trains and SBS Transit announced in a joint news release on Wednesday (Dec 1).

Emergency Preparedness Exercise on Dec 7, 2021

The emergency preparedness exercise at CC 13 NE 12 Serangoon MRT station will be conducted from 10:00am to 4:00pm, during the off-peak hours.

LTA said that commuters should factor in additional time during this period.

It added that some commuters may be asked to go through metal detector checks and have their belongings scanned by X-ray machines. As such, commuters with bulky items may require more time to clear security checks.

If you enter station nearer to the CCL Circle Line
You will be advised to proceed to the fare gates near Exits E and G.

If you enter station nearer to the NEL North East Line
You will be advised to proceed to the fare gates near Exits A and D.

What is Exercise Station Guard?

Exercise Station Guard is an emergency preparedness exercise aimed to strengthen security in public venues and to build resilience in the community against security threats, particularly from terror attacks.

This exercise also aims to raise public awareness of the security threats which Singapore faces and to familiarise commuters on how they should respond in the event of an emergency on the public transport network.

Is this the first time Exercise Station Guard is conducted?

Exercise Station Guard have been conducted on a regular basis since 2018.
