Downtown Line Stage 2 Extension – DTL2e
DT1 BP6 Bukit Panjang (existing)
DE1 Station along Sungei Kadut Avenue
DE2 NS6 Sungei Kadut
The 4km extension, which will serve the north-western region, including Yew Tee, Choa Chu Kang, and Sungei Kadut, was first announced in 2019 by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in its Land Transport Master Plan (LTMP) 2040 under the DTL Stage 2 Extension (DTL2e).
The first DTL2e station, coded ‘DE1’, will be situated near Choa Chu Kang Drive and Woodlands Road. The station will serve residents living near Yew Tee Village and will bring better connectivity to the Rail Corridor, Pang Sua Park Connector, and Pang Sua Fishing Deck.
A new Sungei Kadut interchange station, coded ‘DE2’ and ‘NS6’, will also be built as part of DTL2e. The station will be situated between Yew Tee (NS5) and Kranji (NS7) stations, adjacent to the future Sungei Kadut Eco-District, near Sungei Kadut Central and Sungei Kadut Street 2.
The upcoming Sungei Kadut (NS6) station will also become NSL’s third in-fill station, after the Canberra (NS12) station, which opened back in 2019, and the upcoming Brickland (NS3A) station, between Choa Chu Kang (NS4) and Bukit Gombak (NS3) stations, opening in 2034.

LTA estimated that with DTL2e, a commuter taking the train from Yew Tee Village to Chinatown will save up to 20 minutes of travelling time. Similarly, a commuter taking the train from Sungei Kadut Central to Beauty World will save up to 30 minutes.
Construction works for the extension are expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2025.
When DTL2e is completed by 2035, the DTL will have a total of 39 stations and will strengthen the rail network resilience and connectivity for the north-western region of Singapore, including alternative transfer options and shorter travel times.
In an interview with the media last December, Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat said that Hume (DT4) station on the DTL will open for passenger service in the second quarter of 2025.
Mr Chee added that the DTL Stage 3 Extension (DTL3e), which spans 2km, linking the existing Expo (DT35) station to the upcoming Xilin (DT36) and Sungei Bedok (DT37) stations, will be operational in the second half of 2026.
Sungei Bedok station is an interchange between the DTL and Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) under TEL Stage 5 (TEL5), comprising Bedok South (TE30) and Sungei Bedok (TE31) stations, also opening in the second half of 2026.
