Punggol Coast MRT station to open on Dec 10, 2024; will become new terminus for North East Line
Situated within the heart of Punggol Digital District (PDD), when the new Punggol Coast MRT station opens on Dec 10, it will provide better connectivity to the JTC Business Park, housing over 28,000 employees.
Over 12,000 students at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) Punggol Campus and visitors to the upcoming Punggol Coast Mall will also benefit from greater accessibility from the opening of the new NEL station.
The Punggol Coast MRT station will complement the Teck Lee LRT station on the West loop of the Punggol LRT which opened recently on Aug 15 this year. The station will be within walking distance of the Punggol Coast bus interchange.

There will be two station entrances, one within the PDD and SIT campus, and the other along New Punggol Road. The station will also house over 300 bicycle parking lots, for added convenience and to support sustainable mobility.
Construction works for the station began in 2018, and the station was handed over to rail operator SBS Transit in August. LTA said the operator has been carrying out operational testing in preparation for the commencement of passenger service.
With the new station, over 200,000 households will be within a 10-minute walk from a NEL station. The station will shorten travelling time from Punggol North to the city centre and other parts of Singapore.
For instance, when Punggol Coast station is opened, commuters travelling from Punggol North to Outram Park will take around 45 minutes on the NEL, compared to 60 minutes currently.
Punggol Coast station is designed in-house by LTA, with its construction jointly managed with JTC. The station has been awarded the Building Construction Authority (BCA) Green Mark Platinum Certification for its energy-efficient design and operations.
This includes green features such as light-emitting diode (LED) lighting and a hybrid cooling system, as implemented on several stations along Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) stage 4, which opened in June this year.
