The new trains for the NSEWL come with new and improved features that enhance train reliability and enable efficient maintenance work.

Such new and improved features include a self-test system which automatically checks whether the trains are fit for operation before commencing passenger service daily.

The Alstom Movia R151 trains are to be equipped with condition-monitoring features that pre-emptively identify emerging train faults for early rectification.

Four of these new trains will be fitted with the Automatic Track Inspection (ATI) system, which allows monitoring of the running rails, trackside equipment and sleepers, reducing the length of time needed to identify track faults or disruptions.
