Independent Agent Appointed for Certifying Safety of the RTS Link Project

A three-company consortium has been appointed to assess and certify that the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link will be safe to begin passenger service in 2026.

IV&V Agent Appointed for the RTS Link Project

Appointment of Three-company Consortium for IV&V

The three-company consortium comprises French-based multinational public transport engineering company Systra SA, Malaysian engineering firm Minconsult Sdn. Bhd. and Bureau Veritas Singapore Pte. Ltd.

It will act as the Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) agent for the RTS Link project, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) and the Ministry of Transport, Malaysia (MY MOT) announced in a joint statement on Friday (Apr 1).

“This includes assessing and certifying that the RTS Link is safe to commence passenger operations in end 2026,” the joint statement mentioned.

Companies Are Highly Experienced in Conducting IV&V Services Abroad

“The consortium of these three companies has extensive experience in conducting IV&V services for international railway projects such as the Sydney Metro North West Project and Jakarta LRT Project Phase 1,” the transport authorities noted.

French-based Systra SA is an established engineering and consulting company specialising in public transport and mobility solutions.

Minconsult Sdn. Bhd. is a Malaysian engineering consulting firm with a wide range of projects in Malaysia and abroad.

Bureau Veritas Singapore Pte. Ltd. has an established track record in providing testing, inspection, and certification services.

RTS Link To Be Completed by End-2026

The RTS Link has an estimated capacity to transport up to 10,000 passengers an hour in each direction. When completed, passengers can look forward to seamless connectivity through Woodlands North MRT station on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL).
