Mask-wearing on the MRT/LRT is made optional and not mandatory from Feb 13, 2023.

The COVID-19 Multi-Ministry Taskforce (MTF) announced on Thursday (Feb 9) that the easing of restrictions marks Singapore’s progression into living with COVID-19.

Requirements for Mask-Wearing on the Train Network

The Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a news release on Thursday (Feb 9) that it will step down several measures from Feb 13, 2023, following the stable COVID-19 situation in Singapore.

This includes removing mandatory mask-wearing on public transport – including the MRT and LRT network – such that it will no longer be required under the COVID-19 regulations.

The elderly and immunocompromised, including those with COVID-19 or acute respiratory infection (ARI) symptoms, are still encouraged to continue mask-wearing while travelling.
