There will be no train services connecting Tanah Merah (EW4), Simei (EW3), and Tampines (EW2) stations on the East-West Line (EWL) from Dec 7 to Dec 10 for track works to connect the existing MRT line with the new East Coast Integrated Depot (ECID).
Shuttle bus service ‘Shuttle 7’ will operate at the affected stretches, running from first train to last train, between Tampines, Simei, and Tanah Merah stations, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and rail operator SMRT in a joint news release on Tuesday (Nov 5).

East-West Line: No train services between Tanah Merah and Tampines from Dec 7–10, 2024
The adjustment to train services from Dec 7 to Dec 10 is part of preparatory works for the opening of the new ECID in 2026. Due to “safety reasons”, there will be no train service at the affected segment during the period.
Shuttle bus service ‘Shuttle 7’, which will run between Tampines, Simei, and Tanah Merah stations, will operate at a frequency of three to five minutes and will follow the same fare structure as trains.
LTA said the closure of the affected stretch between Tanah Merah and Tampines stations will also have an impact on adjacent stations of the EWL.
This includes the stretch between Tampines (EW2) and Pasir Ris (EW1) stations, where eastbound trains from Tanah Merah (EW4) will not be able to turn around at Pasir Ris (EW1) to provide usual westbound train services towards Tuas Link (EW33).
Train services between Tanah Merah (CG) and Changi Airport (CG2) stations will also be affected during the period.
To maintain connectivity, shuttle train services will operate at 5-min intervals between Tampines and Pasir Ris stations, 8-min intervals between Tanah Merah and Expo stations, and 11-min intervals between Expo and Changi Airport stations.
During the morning and evening peak hours of Monday and Tuesday, alternate eastbound trains towards Tanah Merah (EW4) will end their service at Paya Lebar (EW8) before turning westbound towards Tuas Link (EW33) station to maintain peak hour frequency.
“Where possible, commuters passing through the affected EWL stations are strongly encouraged to consider alternative routes via the Downtown Line and other MRT lines, as this may result in shorter travel times,” LTA said.
