On the evening of May 22, 2022, three crew members from Bukit Gombak MRT station saved a man who fell unconscious after suffering a cardiac arrest.

According to an article by the Singapore Heart Foundation, a cardiac arrest occurs when “the heart malfunctions and stops beating unexpectedly”. It is different from a heart attack.

Mr Mohamed Wahed Bin Sawpi, Mr Muhammad Rizwan Bin Hamzah and Mdm Nur Farah Shafiqah Binte Mohamed Madi were lauded by the SCDF in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

“Their collective effort is a testament of the importance of learning Emergency Preparedness Skills (e.g. CPR and AED),” the SCDF added.

The three SMRT staff were presented the SCDF Community Lifesaver Award by Commander, 4th SCDF Division, COL Goh Boon Han.
