A new and enhanced transfer linkway at Outram Park MRT station that connects the East-West Line (EWL) and North East Line (NEL) was opened on Sunday (May 29).

The opening of this transfer linkway may indicate that the Thomson-East Coast Line 3 (TEL3) is another step closer to being opened in the second half of this year.

The new transfer linkway is located in the paid zones of the Outram Park MRT station between the EWL and NEL.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a Facebook post last Friday that it features travellators and enhanced wayfinding signages — similarly implemented all across the TEL — to “make your journey a more pleasant one.”

Utilised by commuters since the NEL opened in 2003, the existing transfer linkway is currently blocked off with barriers.

However, it will likely be reopened with access to the TEL3 when it begins passenger service in the second half of this year, based on an informational diagram in the station that has been put up by the construction firm in charge.
