The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has opened a public call for artists to participate in the Art in Transit (AIT) programme for the upcoming Cross Island Line (CRL) on Saturday (May 7).

The fully-underground CRL will be Singapore’s eighth MRT line that connects major hubs such as Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District and the Changi region.

The Art in Transit (AIT) programme, which first began in 1997 for the North East Line (NEL), is the country’s largest public art showcase that aims to integrate the artworks of leading Singaporean artists at various MRT stations in the train network.

During the opening of Thomson-East Coast Line 2 (TEL2), the AIT programme garnered a lot of attention with its creative and unique integration of artworks into the TEL2 stations.

Apart from NEL and TEL stations, the AIT is also integrated into MRT stations along the Circle Line (CCL) and the Downtown Line (DTL).

The public call for artists to participate in the AIT programme for the upcoming CRL is now open for submissions and will subsequently close on Jun 7, 2022.

Interested participants should prepare to submit a relevant portfolio and their Curriculum Vitae (CV) to the Curator for selection.

The process will be overseen by the Art Review Panel (ARP) comprising artists, educators, architects and representatives from relevant agencies and institutions.
