To facilitate Cable Replacement Works along the Tuas West Extension (TWE), selected MRT stations along the East-West Line (EWL) will be closed on Sundays from 14 March to 18 April 2021.
SMRT mentions that as part of precautionary measures to be implemented against power cable faults and potential train service disruptions, about 150km of 22kV will be replaced with ones of a higher-specification. The rail operator added that these Full Sunday Closures will “provide more engineering hours and accelerate cable replacement works, which are expected to be completed by end-2021.”
Shuttle Bus Service 3 will be available during the Full Sunday Closures to enable bridging services for commuters between the stations involved. Westbound train services will end at Boon Lay instead of Joo Koon or Tuas Link during the Full Sunday Closures.
