InnoTrans 2020 postponed due to Covid-19

Messe Berlin, the organiser of the biennial InnoTrans rail trade show, announced via their website and social media platforms that the 2020 event, slated to be held from 22 to 25 September 2020, will be postponed to 27 to 30 April next year.

The new dates for the largest trade show of the rail transport industry was announced amidst struggling economies and strict travel restriction and social distancing measures caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The coronavirus, named Covid-19, has infected over 4.6 million people worldwide and caused over 300,000 deaths as of 17 May 2020.

The Berlin Senate had, on 21 April 2020, introduced a decree disallowing events of more than 5,000 participants until 24 October 2020. The new dates for the mega-event was finalised and announced in early-May.

InnoTrans, inaugurated in 1996, attracted over 153,000 participants from over 149 countries in 2018, with over 3,000 exhibitors from 62 countries.
