Circle Line to end earlier on Saturdays, start later on Sundays, from Apr 11 to May 17, 2026

Train services on the Circle Line (CCL) will end earlier on Saturdays and start later on Sundays from Apr 11 to May 17, 2026, to prepare for the opening of CCL stage 6 (CCL6). This comes after the completion of months-long tunnel strengthening works that began in January.

The joint statement by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and rail operator SMRT said they will proceed with the final phase of testing and commissioning works to integrate the CCL6 systems with the existing CCL network.

This system integration testing is necessary for the opening of CCL6, and could only be carried out with the completion of tunnel strengthening works, as it requires the entire MRT line to be available for testing, the joint statement added.

CCL train services across all stations will therefore end earlier at 11:00pm on Saturdays and will start later at 9:00am on Sundays, from Apr 11 to May 17, 2026.

As with the arrangements from September to December 2025, the early closures and late openings (ECLO) will provide “the necessary engineering hours for safe and rigorous testing and commissioning of the train systems.”

Affected commuters can use shuttle bus services S36 and S37 that will be available on Sundays, operating from 5:00am to 9:00am. They will use the same fare structure as the CCL train journeys.

Shuttle bus service S36 will run between HarbourFront and Bishan stations every 7–10 minutes. Shuttle bus service S37 will run between Bishan and Promenade stations every 3–5 minutes.

LTA and SMRT said commuters may face up to an additional 30 minutes of travel time during the service adjustments, and they advise planning journeys in advance and considering alternative routes using other MRT lines and bus services.

“We seek commuters’ continued understanding and patience as these temporary service adjustments are essential to enable thorough testing before CCL6 opens,” said LTA and SMRT.
