The first civil contract (Contract 992) for the design and construction of DE1 station, located along Sungei Kadut Avenue, was awarded to Woh Hup Engineering Pte Ltd.

LTA said the contract, valued at around $285 million, would also include constructing a vehicular bridge to extend Choa Chu Kang North 7 and a pedestrian link bridge over Pang Sua Canal to improve connectivity between the DE1 station, Yew Tee, and the Rail Corridor.

Woh Hup Engineering Pte Ltd specialises in infrastructure and building projects. The Singapore-registered construction company is currently involved in the design and construction of several Cross Island Line (CRL) projects.

These CRL projects include the design and construction of the CRL Punggol interchange station and tunnels for the CRL Punggol extension (CPe), as well as Loyang station and tunnels under CRL Phase 1 (CRL1).

The company was also recently awarded the civil contract (Contract 991) for tunnelling works between DE1 station and DE2 station under the DTL2 Extension (DTL2e) project.

The second civil contract (Contract 990) for the design and construction of NS6/DE2 station on the DTL2e was awarded to the joint venture between Samwoh Corporation Pte Ltd and China Communications Construction Company Limited (Singapore Branch).

Valued at around $450 million, the contract involves the construction of the underground DE2 station on the DTL, as well as the aboveground NS6 station between Yew Tee and Kranji stations on the NSL.

LTA said Samwoh Corporation Pte Ltd is an established local company that provides civil engineering and construction services that built the Sentosa Gateway Tunnel and the flyover slip road from Seletar West Link to Seletar Expressway (SLE).

The company is currently enhancing a section of Loyang Avenue, Telok Paku Road, Nicoll Drive, and Changi Coast Road in the Changi Northern Corridor, as well as enhancing road networks on the Pan Island Expressway (PIE), East Coast Parkway (ECP), and the Changi Flyover in the Changi Southern Corridor.

China Communications Construction Company Limited (Singapore Branch) has an extensive track record in the delivery of design-and-build construction services locally and abroad, said LTA.

The company is currently constructing Tampines North, King Albert Park, and Clementi stations on the CRL, Boon Lay station on the Jurong Region Line (JRL), the viaduct and tunnels for the Johor Bahru – Singapore RTS Link, as well as the Jurong East Integrated Transport Hub.

Construction work to begin in the second quarter of 2026

LTA said both DE1 and NS6/DE2 stations would be concurrently constructed using Earth Retaining and Stabilising Structures (ERSS) due to the “expected complex ground conditions in the area, such as hard granite”.

As works will be carried out within a constrained workspace and in close proximity to the NSL, LTA will plan and coordinate closely with relevant agencies and the NSL rail operator SMRT to carry out works after train service hours, to minimise impact on NSL commuters.

LTA said the authority and contractors will implement real-time monitoring of ground stability and relevant safety measures to ensure the safe conduct of construction works and to minimise impact to nearby stakeholders and infrastructure.

LTA added that it has also carried out a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and will implement necessary mitigation measures as outlined in the Environmental Monitoring and Management Plan.

When construction works are taking place, LTA will be working closely with all stakeholders to provide all necessary mitigating measures to control construction dust and noise, as well as to ensure safety and vector control at all times.

“LTA and its appointed contractors will also work closely with residents and stakeholders to minimise any disruption and inconvenience that may be caused, and provide regular updates to residents and stakeholders on the progress of the works,” said LTA.

Construction works for the DE1 and NS6/DE2 stations are slated to begin in the second quarter of 2026, with LTA targeting to complete construction and commence passenger service for DTL2e in 2035.
