This comes after dual-loop train services were resumed on weekends and public holidays from Sep 28, following good progression on the BPLRT renewal programme.
A joint statement by LTA and rail operator SMRT on Nov 1 initially mentioned that further resumption of dual-loop train services on weekdays can be expected “in the coming months”.
Through LTA’s latest announcement just over a month later, dual-loop train services will also resume on weekdays, in addition to weekends and public holidays, from Dec 30 onwards.
The joint statement on Nov 1 also mentioned it aims to “complete the full BPLRT renewal programme by the end of 2026”, with the BPLRT ending train services an hour earlier at 10:30pm every Thursday to Sunday until Oct 31, 2025, to facilitate testing works.

BPLRT’s renewal programme comprises upgrading the line’s power rail system, replacing the existing signalling system with a Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signalling system, and retiring and replacing all 1st-gen C801 vehicles.
In addition, all 2nd-gen C801A vehicles will undergo upgrades to be fitted with the CBTC signalling system, and condition monitoring systems will be deployed across the LRT line.
According to crowdsourced trainspotting platform SGTrains Spotters, the 3rd-gen Alstom Innovia APM 300R C801B vehicles, which will replace all 1st-gen C801 vehicles, are being progressively introduced and entering passenger service on the BPLRT.
Excluding the two prototypes, seven C801B vehicles have been delivered to Singapore; four have entered passenger service since Aug 1, with two undergoing testing and commissioning works. By the end of 2025, all C801B vehicles would have arrived in Singapore, said LTA.
